Description
Mango leaf extract, extracted from the Mangifera indica L leaves, has been used in traditional healing practices like Ayurveda and traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years. While all parts of the mango tree are utilized in traditional medicine - including stems, bark, leaves, roots, and fruits - the leaves are particularly renowned for their therapeutic properties. They are believed to help manage diabetes and other health conditions.The main component of mango leaves is mangiferin. This compound exhibits a range of beneficial properties: it has an inhibitory effect on the central nervous system, exhibits antibacterial activity, anti-inflammatory properties, and is effective against herpes simplex virus. It also exhibits significant cholinergic and immune functions.
Furthermore, mangiferin has a protective effect against simulated acute hyperoxia and hypoxia-induced liver injury.Pharmacological experiments have confirmed mangiferin's efficacy in treating chronic bronchitis. It is also recognized as the primary active ingredient in Tibetan capillaris used in the treatment of hepatitis and as an active antiviral component in Anemarrhena Rhizome.
